Remembering George 1990 – 2011
October 31, 2011 marked the end of an era with the passing of our long-time friend and companion of 20 years, our widely known and prolific dromedary bull, George. He lived a good life, and with his herd of Australian females, he sired over 150 offspring, all with great disposition and beautiful conformation. Throughout the years George was the always stalwart, regal bull who commanded respect, but in a gentle way. Although he was an imposing and powerful figure, he had the softest and most soulful eyes. To have looked directly into his eyes was to have experienced a truly memorable moment. Weakened limbs in later life caused great difficulty in George's ability to walk. Throughout these challenges, he continued to enjoy the companionship of Chantilly, his favorite female of so many years. We not only mourn his loss but we also celebrate the extraordinary life of this very special camel whose many offspring have carried his famous genes far and wide. His legacy lives on and will be present in the lives of many for years and years. Rest in peace, big George. You've certainly earned it.
